GLOWING
RADIANCE
Candlelight gold is
the “ultimate warm
neutral” that works
with most any color,
says designer David
Bromstad, host of
Color Splash
on
HGTV. David uses
the hue as a base
color when he
wants an inviting
feel. “It’s like
getting a warm
hug,” he says.
■ Light right
Gold can be tricky
in the way it reacts
with light, David
says. Fluorescent
light tends to bring
out the green in
golds, while natural
light makes shades
more yellow. “A
combination of
natural and artificial
light is the best way
to showcase gold in
all its glory.”
■ Dynamic duos
David likes to pair
candlelight colors
with lime green,
light blue, or white.
For a neutral look,
he layers different
shades of gold.
■ Shine on
“Metallics are a
hot trend right
now,” David says.
But a little goes a
long way, so try a
metallic accent to
give a room a bit
of sparkle.
